A Kingdom of Priests (Part 1)

God's desire was to give us dominion and to rule the earth from the very beginning of time, however due to the fall of One man it was lost. God set a plan in motion to not only redeem us, by the sacrifice of one man and  place that authority back into the hands of His people.

When God had delivered his people out of Egypt, Moses went up on the mount to receive instructions from the Lord. It was there he told Moses

Exodus 19:4-6
'You have seen what I did to the Egyptians. You know how I carried you on eagles' wings and brought you to myself.
Now if you will obey me and keep my covenant, you will be my own special treasure from among all the peoples on earth; for all the earth belongs to me And you will be my kingdom of priests, my holy nation.' This is the message you must give to the people of Israel."

God had a desire to make for himself a KINGDOM of Priests.  Websters defines Kingdom as a  politically organized community or major territorial unit having a government headed by a king or queen.

                                                                     Our King: JESUS

Through out the Bible, there are 5 words that were used interchangeably for Priests.  We are going to focus on the first word that which is actually Priests.

A Word Study of the Word brought back similar words to Priest as
  • Mediator
  • Intercessor
  • Vicar - one serving as a substitute or agent; specifically: an administrative deputy.
This word study yielded me with this definition for priest

A priest is person sanctified for service to God and privileged to enter into his presence in the holy place, and to offer sacrifices. In the Christian priesthood however, Christ alone made sacrifice for sins.

God's desire for us from the very beginning was to be a Kingdom of People who were set apart (Sanctified) for his service and given the privilege to enter into his presence.

1Pe 2:5,9 "You also, as living stones, are being built up as a spiritual house for a holy [and royal] priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ."

Rev 1:6, 5:10, 20:6 "He has made us to be a kingdom, priests to his God and Father... priests of God and of Christ, and they will reign with him..."

Today's Kingdom Minute: Begin fulfilling your destiny as a Kingdom of Priests. We have not only the right but the responsibility to go into Gods presence and stand in the gap for our Homes, Schools, Business and Yes...this city.
